PDF Metrix Official Privacy Policy & Data Disclosures
Effective Date: July 2026 | Last Updated: September 2026 | Standard: GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA & Google AdSense Publisher Requirements
100% In-Browser Local Processing Guarantee
Your files and documents NEVER leave your computer or smartphone. All PDF parsing, page editing, image conversions, redactions, watermarking, and signature placements execute 100% locally inside your web browser RAM via client-side WebAssembly (WASM). Zero document bytes are uploaded, transmitted, or logged on remote cloud servers.
1. Zero Server File Uploads & Local RAM Architecture
Traditional online PDF utility platforms force users to upload confidential financial records, tax returns, medical files, and legal contracts over the public internet to third-party cloud servers. PDF Metrix operates under a strict Zero-Knowledge Architecture. When you drag and drop a PDF file into any of our 25 tools, the application loads the document binary into isolated local browser RAM memory (ArrayBuffers).
When you close or refresh your browser tab, all allocated memory buffers are immediately purged and overwritten by your device operating system RAM allocator. No residual document fragments remain on disk or external servers.
2. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising Disclosures
To maintain free, unrestricted access to all 25 PDF tools without monthly subscription paywalls, PDF Metrix displays third-party advertisements served by Google AdSense. In compliance with Google Publisher Policies, please review the following required advertising disclosures:
- Third-Party Vendors & Cookies: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to PDF Metrix or other websites across the Internet.
- DoubleClick / Double-Click DART Cookie: Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to our site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Opting Out of Personalized Advertising: Users may opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, users can opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
- How Google Uses Data: For more detailed disclosures on how Google collects and processes data when you visit sites utilizing Google AdSense, please review Google's official privacy policy page at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
3. Google Analytics & Aggregate Performance Telemetry
PDF Metrix utilizes Google Analytics 4 ('gtag.js') to measure aggregate website traffic, monitor page loading speeds, track tool popularity, and diagnose technical WebAssembly compatibility issues across different web browsers. Google Analytics collects non-personally identifiable telemetry data, such as:
- Browser type, operating system version, and screen resolution.
- Coarse geographic location (country/city level).
- Referrer URLs and page navigation paths within PDF Metrix.
Google Analytics never collects, inspects, or logs the contents, file names, or text data of any PDF documents processed inside the application.
4. Local Browser Storage, Cookies & PWA Offline Caching
PDF Metrix utilizes standard web browser storage APIs to enhance user experience:
- LocalStorage & SessionStorage: Used to save local UI state preferences, such as selected theme (Dark Mode vs Light Mode) and recent tool filter settings.
- Service Worker Cache ('sw.js'): Progressive Web App (PWA) Service Workers cache static application assets (CSS, JavaScript, WebAssembly binaries) locally on your device so that PDF Metrix can run 100% offline without an internet connection.
5. Regulatory Data Protection Compliance (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, COPPA)
PDF Metrix is engineered to satisfy global regulatory compliance frameworks:
- EU GDPR Compliance: Satisfies GDPR Article 32 data security and minimization principles. Because zero document bytes or personal identity records leave your web browser, cross-border data transfer violations are physically impossible.
- California CCPA / CPRA Compliance: PDF Metrix does not collect, store, or sell personal consumer information. Users retain 100% control over their digital documents.
- HIPAA Health Data Protection: Healthcare providers can process Protected Health Information (PHI) and medical records safely, knowing files remain strictly inside local client RAM.
- COPPA Compliance: PDF Metrix does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13.
6. Data Security Controls & External Hyperlinks
PDF Metrix enforces strict Content Security Policy (CSP) HTTP headers and Same-Origin isolation to prevent cross-site scripting (XSS) and unauthorized remote script injection. Our website may contain links to third-party websites (such as official Google disclosure links). PDF Metrix is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party external web pages.
7. Policy Updates & Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect enhancements to our local PDF tools or changes in regulatory standards. Any modifications will be posted directly on this page with an updated "Effective Date."
